The High-Polymer Composite Anti-Cracking Patch is a self-adhesive, tape-shaped interlayer anti-cracking and waterproof material, which is compounded from high-strength, high-temperature and acid-alkali resistant glass fiber fabrics, asphalt-based high polymer polymers and base courses.

Integrating the anti-cracking and crack-resistant materials such as geosynthetics, fiber synthetic materials and stress absorption layers that are independently used in current highway engineering, the High-Polymer Composite Anti-Cracking Patch is an upgraded optimized product of interlayer anti-cracking and waterproof materials for highway engineering.

On the basis of absorbing advanced experience of similar foreign materials, the High-Polymer Composite Anti-Cracking Patch is an independently developed domestic high-strength anti-cracking material, leveraging Qixiu’s over ten years of experience in pavement material sales, cooperative R&D and application. It is mainly applied to the conversion of cement concrete pavements to asphalt pavements (white-to-black pavement reconstruction). Given that its core raw materials are similar to those of joint tapes, it can also be used for sealing, waterproofing and repairing road surface cracks. With successful application cases on multiple domestic highways, it demonstrates excellent anti-cracking and waterproof performance.

The high polymer in Qixiu Anti-Cracking Patch is a viscoelastic material with good low-temperature flexibility. Paved under the asphalt pavement layer, it acts as a viscoelastic interlayer. The tensile stress at cracks is dispersed to a wider range through the polymer layer in the anti-cracking patch, achieving the effect of absorbing tensile energy.

 

4. Self-Adhesive Performance of Anti-Cracking Patch & Crack Prevention Patch & Crack Repair Patch

The material has self-adhesive properties and exhibits excellent bonding performance after the release film is peeled off. After being compacted stably with a road roller or small-sized compaction equipment, it bonds more firmly to the pavement without displacement, and can meet the construction requirements for paving the upper asphalt mixture.

According to changes in ambient temperature, the high polymer in Qixiu Anti-Cracking Patch adopts three formulations: normal temperature, low temperature and high temperature, ensuring the bonding performance between the material and the pavement in different ambient temperature seasons.

 

 

Application Scenarios

 

1. For Crack and Expansion Joint Treatment in Cement Pavement “White-to-Black” Conversion or Overlay Projects

It serves as a stress buffer, energy absorber, sealer and waterproofing layer, preventing reflective cracking on the overlay and mitigating the impact of seasonal width variations of expansion joints (slab joints) in concrete slabs on the surface course.

The anti-cracking patch is installed on the top surface of the base course or cement concrete slabs.

The measured high-temperature resistance of the fabric in Qixiu High-Polymer Composite Anti-Cracking Patch reaches 270℃.

According to the Technical Specifications for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements (JTG F40-2004) issued by the Ministry of Transport, under the conditions that the surface temperature of the underlying layer is 10~15℃ and the paving thickness is less than 5cm, the on-site paving temperatures of ordinary asphalt mixture and modified asphalt mixture are 145℃ and 165℃ respectively. When the overlay layer is modified asphalt mixture, the surface fabric of polypropylene-high polymer composite interlayer anti-cracking patch has already undergone thermal deformation, and the surface fabric of non-woven fabric-high polymer composite interlayer anti-cracking patch is close to the state of thermal deformation. In contrast, the surface fabric of Qixiu High-Polymer Composite Anti-Cracking Patch can effectively resist thermal deformation caused by various existing mixtures and different paving temperatures.
